AXA ART has appointed Irina Buchmann as President and CEO of its Americas operation.

The Americas operations of the specialist insurer encompasses Brazil, Canada, Mexico and the United States.

 Ms. Buchmann is an insurance industry expert with more than 16 years of experience in  strategy, finance and risk management within the AXA Group. Over the course of her career she held several board positions within AXA across Europe. She studied in Germany, Argentina and Sweden and holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the European Business School. She is fluent in Spanish, German, English and French.

AXA ART operates in more than 20 countries worldwide with over $100 billion in art and  collectibles insured.

AXA announced recently that it has entered into an agreement to acquire 100% of XL Group Ltd (NYSE: XL), a leading global Property & Casualty commercial lines insurer and reinsurer with strong presence in North America, Europe, Lloyd’s and Asia-Pacific. The merger agreement has been unanimously approved by the boards of AXA and XL Group.  Upon completion of the transaction, the combined operations will create the #1 global P&C commercial lines insurance platform.
