Top art fairs in 2014 by number of visitors

ArtVista has just released statistics for the top art fairs by numbers of visitors in 2014 and 2013.

Overall, the total number of art fair visitors in 2014 increased by 1.9% from 2013, a year which saw a decrease of 2.6% in art fair visitors. The top ten art fairs by number of visitors in 2014, were, in rank order: Arte BA, Buenos Aires; ARCO, Madrid; Art Basel; KIAF, Korea Int. Art Fair; FIAC, Paris; TEFAF, Maastricht; Art Basel Miami Beach; Art Basel Hong Kong; Armory Show, New York; and Frieze London.

The most popular art fair of 2014 was Arte BA, Buenos Aires, which attracted 81 exhibitors and 110,000 visitors. The number of visitors to this fair had risen by 10,000 since the previous year, when it was attended by 100,000 visitors. The second most popular fair of 2014 was ARCO, Madrid, with 210 exhibitors and 100,000 visitors. This fair saw a decrease in 50,000 visitors since 2013, when it was ranked first place in this list. Art Basel saw another significant change in visitor numbers, which attracted 70,000 visitors in 2013, but 92,000 visitors in 2014. Art Cologne featured in this list in 2013, but not in 2014, and Art Basel Miami Beach was not ranked amongst the top 10 in 2013, but saw itself added to the list in 2014.
