Western and Asian contemporary art for sale in Hong Kong
A selection of Western and Asian contemporary art will go on sale at Sotheby’s Hong Kong on January 23.
The sale, titled Boundless: Contemporary Art, follows on from the success of a previous auction of the same name, held in 2012.
The sale brings together photographs, paintings, sculptures and design pieces, featuring work by such prominent artists from the West as Anselm Kiefer, Marc Quinn, Damien Hirst, Joanna Vasconcalos, Bernar Venet, Barbara Kruger and Ivan Navarro. Asian artists featured in the sale include Zao Wou-ki, Cai Guo-Qiang and Tschang Yeul Kim. The auction will offer a total of over 60 lots estimated in excess of HK$23 million/US$3 million.
Isaure de Viel Castel, head of the Boundless: Contemporary Art department, said: “With the inaugural Boundless: Contemporary Art sale in 2012 receiving positive response from the market, we are excited to present once again works by contemporary Western and Asian artists simultaneously in yet another meticulously-curated sale in Sotheby’s Hong Kong. The works on offer are sourced globally by Sotheby’s worldwide team of experts, transcending the boundaries of culture and catering to the demand and taste of the collectors from Asia.”
